Chris, Didn't hear back before end of month pricing but I called TruckAddons and mentioned your name. Got the same deal on wench that you stated. Also got a great deal on the bumpers/guard. Wench has arrived, just waiting for bumper. Asked for the Ky beat NC discount. You guys have best prices I have found yet. Got a new customer here. Thanks.

Is that the only difference? And why is rope better then cable?

I think it is the only difference because my winch came with a sticker on it that said "now with synthetic rope." Rope is easier to handle, lighter, and less dangerous when it snaps. But a lot of it is personal preference. Rope is supposed to be UV resistant, but I'd imagine cable would last longer in the elements. Though you are supposed to replace cable after a certain number of uses.

Hundred foot tall carbon sailboat masts are held up by the same style of rope as this. They last thousands of miles through punishing round the world races.

I have the XRC comp 10k winch and I luv it the rope on a winch is so much better no medal strains poking through into ur hands and u don't have worry about the cable breaking and injuring any one or ur Jeep. Just my opinion if u have the extra get the 10k comp XRC winch especially if u have a 4 dr. My friend tried u pull me out with his 8k and couldn't so ended getting pull out by two jeeps and a 8k winch lol.

The rope alone cost $200. Its a better deal to just get it now.

Well it's not really a better deal because I have the cable utility it breaks or needs replacing I'm a certified rigger and I know how to check cable to see when it needs to be replaced so as long as I use it properly and check it after each use I should get a couple years out of it before I have to upgrade it, I dont wheel that much let alone have to winch myself that much that it would mke a difference... Once it needed replacing I would go with the rope.

I haven't seen any rebates on the X20 or XRC winches since back in 2011 unfortunately.

The XRC10 with synthetic line would be $549 to your door with a winch cover and pair of grab handles included at that price.
