I picked up a generic 14 gang ATO fuse block a few months ago. I haven't yet gotten to cleaning up my wiring mess and installing it. However, i just got a new 05 TJ so since i need to swap over all my components, now would be a good time to install it.
Only issue is that i can't quite make heads or tails of this thing. Here are some pictures:
It seems like the little detachable doo-hickey is a common grounding bar(Thought it was terminals for those glass fuses at first, LOL). Though what i don't quite understand is the spade-looking connector at the bottom. Do i connect my single hot wire to this, or to the screw terminal at the top, right next to where the grounding bar hooks in? If i do connect my hot wire to the spade connector, what kind of connector would i use to plug into it?(Seriously, it's like 1/2")
Also, anyone have any mounting ideas for this block? I know you can mount the smaller 6 gang ones in convenient places like the firewall. Though i think i'll have to get more creative with something this big. I was thinking the center hood brace. As for making it somewhat-water resistant, i was gonna' do the classic mount-it-inside-a-Tupperware-container.
Oh, one more mildly-unrelated question. Should your ground wire be the same size as your lead wire? I heard that it's safe to drop it down a gauge, not sure if that's true.
