Another Switch Solution

I have been reading a lot on here about "where to put the switches" or things like that. SO this is my solution to mounting switches.

While cool, the SPOD was a little to pricey for me, I had purchased an overhead console to mount them too, but that didnt work for a couple of reasons.

SO i went to walmart, purchased a note card box, mounted some switches and wired them. Pictures are better than words!

After connecting all the wires, i placed the box next to the drivers seat. TO avoid people just flicking switches when the doors are off, i also hid a master swtich to box.

It fits surprisingly well, doesnt move, and the carpet overlaps so the wires will runn underneath. ON the side, i drilled out a hole where all the wire run through

Very nice build. I've been doing some shopping for old military parts to build something very similar. Why wouldn't an overhead console work though? I'm looking to mount mine above the rearview mirror and may encounter the same problem.

I orignally bought the rugged ridge over head console, for the sole purpose of putting the switches in front of that. and i ordered the switch panels, and some where between the measurements listed on the switches or the console they were wrong, and didnt match up like i wanted. Otherwise it would have worked.

So its not to say it wouldnt work, just not as easily as i would have liked.

But i did mount my CB radio to the middle of it, drilled a whole, and ran the wire through it.

Ah I see. I hadn't seen that overhead console from rugged ridge. Looks pretty handy.
