I saw a picture of a JK with LED fog lights inside where the original ones go. Someone referred to them as the square peg in a round hole. I'd like to know if any of you have them. Are they the original Rigid Industries or the newer D2's? Where online are they available? I've checked the D2 website, and I'm not sure what's available. I wish they had a dropdown for vehicle make, model and year so all the applicable lights would come up.
The OE fog lights on my JK are just about as effective as the OE headlights. Both need some serious upgrading.
So if anyone has them, where did you get them? Do they need adapters to go inside the bumper? Any other pertinent information is welcome.
I run them they are great.. I had a picture of them before I installed them but cant find it. These will fit the stock bumper as well, I used the flood lights.
Also I went with black box logistics lights. Had to modify the lights, cutting and drill new holes, I did get them centered perfect but it was a lot of work. I saved 100 bucks on the lights but to do it again I would go Rigid just because they do not have to be modified to fit the brackets. Also the LED's draw less amps than the OEM fog lights so they should be alright to run off of the stock fog light wiring.
i have rigid d2 driving lights in my PSC brawler lite bumper. right now i have them hooked to my sPod. i will eventually wire them to the factory fog switch. i love them.there are bright. i dont use them on the road often. YOU WILL BLIND on coming traffic. i use northridge 4X4, they have excellent pricing. i used a PSC d2 mount check out the links
If you want to use them as auxiliary lighting on dark roads, trails, and such; they are fine.
If you want a true fog light that throws a wide and somewhat deep pattern of light for use in rain, snow, and fog [plus is street legal]; you'll be disappointed. They are designed more as driving lights.
I installed the bracket and dually's on a rampage bumper, they are too bright for on road use with on coming traffic. Luckily my JW headlights have more than enough light for regular roads. They look great installed though
Need some help with my D2 Install. I bought a set of these and wired them directly to my fog light circuit using the Rigid pigtail (40197). When I turn the lights on without the engine running, they work great. With the engine running I turn them on and they flash full brightness for just a second and then drop down to very low brightness. I'm guessing my Jeep's PWM is kicking the voltage way down for some reason...thoughts?
Vehicle is a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. The factory fogs draw 24w and the D2s draw 34w. That should have them pulling 2.5a compared to the factory 2.0a...well within the safety margin of the factory wiring. So what's your take?
I installed them in my 2012 last week. Everything is run independent of the Jeep circuitry. Using the harness and rocker switch that came with the kit connected directly to the battery and the rocker switch run to the panel to the right of the steering column. Mine is the new High/low version of the D2. It has a three position red rocker switch that illuminates when the lights are powered. From that location it easy to tell when they are switched on and easy to switch off for oncoming traffic.
