I want to get those but your experience has turned me off a bit. Maybe my luck would be better than yours.

Knowing what I know now I would try the Recons again if I could get them from a distributor with a good return policy - like a Quadratec, etc. where I could get a free replacement if the first were defective. I would never buy direct from Recon again, but I still love the looks of their products.

I have their fender and turn signal lights for quite a while now and they have both been flawless. I may just look into them.

I officially gave up today on the recon tail lights. They've extended the backorder to Mid july. I'm done. I'll take the money from that and put it towards my tire fund.

Wow that sucks. IPCW is another great light too.

They offered to ship out the red smoked lights today, but I don't care. I'd rather make the Jeep more off-road capable at this point than deal with the tail lights. JW Speaker was enough LED for me.

Which ebay LED bulbs are people ordering three days? The 3157 version with lenses that I ordered six months ago are no longer available and I need replacements...

The IPCW has a smoked color and black. I think the black will be a better match only because the smoked one looks a little to "Alteeza-ish". The black IPCW's are not as black as the Recons. If you were going for a grayed out look, the black ones will work because the lens/cover that they use is shiny and often times makes the lights look gray.

Did you ever get a response on this? I didn't see any in the thread. Did you or anyone else order them? I'm seriously considering trying them out. I really like the look of the Recons, but can't justify the price when these are out there for less than half and look the same. The IPCW seems to be good quality and decent price, but I am not a fan of the look, just me.

These Spyders seem to be all over Ebay and listed as Spyer, Philips, and Venom Lighting brands. All post the same Spyder install video and all the lights have the Sonar logo on the lens. Oh...and they are all similar price. Somebody on here has to have tried them by now.

I haven't heard any info/review of these lights. I still haven't changed my stock tails.

I found a member on another thread that had tried them and had good things to say.

This is enough for me to pull the trigger. Follow above thread if you want to see my review after I get them. Also on the supposed different brands/ same product front, I believe they are all Spyder and are using Philips Lumex LED's.

I like them, but can't justify the price. Plus, I hate the dead pixel look if one burns out. I notice this alot on LED traffic lights.

Uh...you do know that those resistors get quite warm, and that they should be mounted directly to a flat metal surface to remove that heat? 3M tape is exactly the wrong thing to use to attach them...it will fail with the heat and insulates the resistor from the heat sink. Recommend you use screws and remove the tape. For extra credit, go to Radio Shack and get some heatsink compound to go between the resistor and the mounting surface.

When I lock/unlock the Jeep it flashes because the turn signal also functions as the brake light in this package. Anyway long story short there must be a built in resistor of some sort that went bad because the right signal blinks really fast as if the resistor went bad. I called Quadratec and they are sending me a replacement set (its sold in pairs) so I'm happy with that. These lights are awesome. The left one works fine. They are bright and have a unique tail light pattern. They do not suffer from condensation that I've noticed in the 3 months I've owned them so far. They are very well built especially when you see them next to the stock ones. I still don't know what caused the so called "failure" but I'm happy that I'm receiving a new set.
Are those resistors required? When I purchase the lights, should I make sure I get these as well or are they included?

if that light has a message to warn you of burned bulbs, then yeah.

You always need to add a resistor from the turn/brake signal wire to the ground wire when replacing bulbs with LED lights. 6 or 8 ohms at 50W worked well for me.

Do not forget to attach that resistor securely to a flat metal surface, which is required to remove the heat it generates. When I installed my brake/turn LEDs, I used "bulldog clips" (those ubiquitous black paper clips w/silver handles) to clamp the resistors to the sheet metal inside the fender. I used a bit of white heatsink compound between the resistor and the sheet metal to help conduct the heat away.

Bermuda Black LED Tail Lights on their way!

I just ordered these as well from Q-tec, along with the matching 3rd light and, as promised, they matched a much cheaper price on Amazon. Too bad I didn't wait one more day since the vendor dropped there price by another $17.00. I'm happy anyway based on all the helpful feedback on this forum, Amazon purchasers and the Quadratec sales guys.

Will be doing the install this weekend when I get them. Bermuda Black will go perfectly with all the other black accents I put on my JKU.
