No Windshield Mounted Lights For Me

I was looking to get some KC windshield mounted lights for my JK. Spoke with Quadratec just now and was informed that in most states, any lighting above the hood is illegal to use on road. Since I don't go off road, that killed that idea. The guy even told me that if they are on the windshield, you need to have covers on them when on the road. I guess I understand that the increased brightness could make it difficult for oncoming traffic. Not sure if I want to put them on my grill bar. Maybe less is more for me. Looking at the bright side (no pun intended) I just saved about $150 and a few hours wiring time.

It depends on what state you live in. Here in Texas my lights are uncovered. I use the bumper lights on dark backroads coming back from the ranch. No problems yet.

Usually any lights installed besides the headlights & fog lights are only used when offroading & are never used on highways/streets... I don't know anyone who installs aftermarket lights with the intent to use on regular roads only. You would blind the shit out of everyone in front of you. That's like driving everywhere with your high beams.

Also the cover thing depends on what state you are in. I'm in Alaska & covers are not a requirement.
