Oracle Halo's

hi guys i just had oracle's duel color red and white halo's installed on my jk. i have a few questions though. i was told that they would brighten up and after driving home with both colors on to break them in this is what i saw when i looked at them... the red appears to be correct although it could be brighter, but the white has gotten extremely dim in all led's instead of two which are now much brighter than when i looked at them before my drive home

I would be interested in how those LED's are wired. Improper design could result in poor current sharing (causing a few to be very bright, and the rest to be dim). Really bad current sharing could cause premature failure.

the thing is the other ring is just very dim with no brighter led's... and the red seems even on both sides but not as bright as i'd expect... people show pictures with them lighting up the ground in front of them and with my reds on you can see no sign of them being on on the ground in front of them with the headlights off

Red lights "on" on the front of a non-emergency vehicle will get you a $200 fine in Texas.

i talked to the shop and found out that the problem was in the switch they used. they used a switch that required the negative and positive to run to it but the halo's need just a toggle switch that disconnects and reconnects the positive side only and that the negative side should run straight to the battery

Are they supposed to be used for DRL? I have Delta Quad lights with the built-in DRL and had them wired in. They work pretty well for that purpose.

ok and i'm wondering is there a chance that the rings have been permanently damaged by this wiring or that they will be ok once it is corrected?

this is actually one thing i was un aware of when i ordered them... i assumed they were led's that could swap color not alternating single color led's. if they did mess the wiring up and something does have to go back to oracle i'm wondering now if it's worth the extra money for colorshift. do you know if using half the led's extremely reduces the brightness? maybe it will be better to get the colorshifts which have leds that can change color and then i would have all of the led's on and it would be brighter. the thing is i'll only ever use white and red anyway. it would just be to have the extra led's on. unless do you know if the colorshifts alternate from white to the rgb led's? i don't know if multi colored leds can make white or just color. in that case it would make no difference and i'd definatly want what i have now.

dukedallas i guess i'm asking do you mind that the led's are spaced farther apart and not as bright as if you had done colorshift or are you happy with your choice?

I run mine all the time. actually at night they do give some lighting on the roadway edges...not a ton but some. Hey I painted those silver studs on our rims black, I also ordered a extra set ($30) just to have as backup they are just plastic as you know.

i'm contemplating doing the outer rings red and the inner bolts that hold them on black and was going to do it right away, but i was convinced by the guys that put my rims on to wait and they've grown on me being silver.

I actually tested that painting 1 set of the plastic things red, but it looked too bling-ish, so i just went all black.

The halos are so white that it makes the headlights look yellow.

i swapped to hid's and led fogs for that reason... i wanted it all to match. and they charged almost nothing to install the hid's since i did it at the same time. i've been driving around with the white rings on and led fogs on because it all is the same white... plus then it will match additional lights. i'm hoping to get a set of d2's on the windshield for christmas.

i'm using an led kit in stock housings... i didn't know if i was clear because i know many people use different lights inside of the fog holes like flush mounting dually's.
