Peterson 701C LED headlight install

I installed my Peterson LED's today. As mentioned in other threads the KC are just rebranded Petersons. There are a couple differences so I thought it best to put the Petersons out there separate as I haven't seen the actual Peterson's reviewed yet. Anyway install was pretty straightforward as the other brands have noted. First difference I noticed is the harness is different than what comes with the KC's.

The harness is a bit rigid and hard to stuff in the area behind the light. The caps are in-line and under the heat shrink. Fit was good once I got the harness positioned properly. Good smoked look to them just like the others on the market.

Like the look and style. Now for the light output.
I found them much better than stock. Nice wide pattern that illuminates the side of the road. Good far reaching light. There is a " hotspot" in the middle and some variance in light pattern on the ground in front of the Jeep (artifacts I assume). I plan on adjusting them to try and fix this when weather gets better.

Overall, I am very happy with the lights. Little artifacts which is mildly annoying. The amount of light and the spread more than makes up for it.

One negative I have that needs to be figured out is the map lights on my rear view mirror come on and stay on (can't shut them off). Even with the headlights off, power turned off, they still stay on. They will shut off 5 minutes after power is cut as anything else will. Never had any problems, so I have to assume it came with the install of the Peterson's. I have not read about anyone else having this issue with their LED's, so I'm inclined to think it is the Peterson harness. If I can solve this, I am very happy with the lights.

Do you have then installed upside down? Seem like the lower should be the lows, and all for the highs? Looks like a lot of glare upwards on the lows?

How's the Peterson headlights so far? Do they fog up? Do you have a chance to test them in snowy weather yet? Cuz the other LED headlights have problems during cold weather. I found them for $395 with harness, so holding myself back from pulling the trigger on it. Thanks!

No, you couldn't install them upside down if you wanted. It's just been a single one hour ride but no one flashed me.

I've only had them a day. So far so good. Very happy with light output, just gotta figure out the map light issue.
Did you find Peterson's on line or the KC's?

Update on the map light issue. I got into the Jeep this morning and had no issues with the map lights this time. Not exactly sure how canbus systems work, but perhaps it had to go through a cycle and all is good now. I guess the last test will be tonight when it is dark. Only other variable I need to check yet, as the problem occurred in the dark last night..
So if this is the end of that problem, you can count me a happy camper with my Peterson's.

Good to hear, must be the pics making it seem that way. I always thought with these styles of leds the lows are on the bottom, good thing I'm wrong

I love the idea and looks of these kind of led headlights, but I've only seen one type of heated led light so far (mind you I'm not actively looking either,) but cold weather performance would be a biggy for us up here and the ability to melt ice etc would be needed.

Hi, I am in the market for LED head lights too and checking the Trucklight and KC and came across peterson. Where did you find a pair for $395 with a harness? Could you please share?
Thanks

Do these have less artifacts than the Truck Lites? It seems the TL have the yy artifacts 25-30 ft out front, while the Petersons have two darker horizontal parallel lines across the road but closer in so maybe not so noticeable or less bothersome as you are usually focused farther out with your eyes.

Anyone else have map light or other gremlin type issue using the Peterson anti-flicker harness? Maybe use the Truck Lite harness with these instead?

Thx.

Every LED headlight I've seen uses the upper portion of the light for the low beams, and the lower portion of the light for the high beams. Seems counterintuitive, but that's what I've seen. Maybe something to do with angles and reflectors.

think of it this way.

here is a normal headlight reflector on low beam.

light on top is reflected downward.

if the low beam was low it would refelect upward. and not hit the road much.

After 5 months are there any updates to the initial report? Any new issues?

Been running mine for awhile. Love em. Ordered the euro spec adjustment setup for left and right headlight alignment. The driver beam is a little to far to the passenger side
