Yeah, give the X-treme Power bulbs a try and spend some time aiming them.

Amazon.com: Philips H13 9008 X-treme Power Headlight Bulb, Pack of 2: Automotive

OTOH, I spent some time behind the wheel of my father-in-laws JKU with stock lighting the other day, and it really stinks compared to my rallylights hella kit.

When I did the H4-100/80w on my XJ, I bought the parts from Susquehanna MotorSports. I then made, and soldered the harness myself. My friend just gave me IPF - H4 headlights with the pig tail connectors that he had on his 08 that he traded in. I have a 2012. I can make the harness. I have the wire, and the H13 connectors. I just need to know where to put the caps, and what size are they? I can drive down, and pick the stuff up. Do you think they would sell me just the pieces? I would buy the harness if I have too. I miss being able to see at night like I could with the XJ.

This is the wiring schematic I used to add my driving lights. Originally from Daniel Stern's website, I believe. You need to do this for both high & low beams. In addition I added a 2nd diode across the relay coil, anode to pin 85, cathode to pin 86 to contain the back EMF generated when the coil collapses. Both diodes are probably over kill, but the come 2 to a pack, so why not. Somewhere around page 4 is my write up w/ photos, also look for Silversports install write-up for his H4 Cibies. If you buy Hella relay # H87453 from SMS it has the diode included, this is listed on their website, but I have never asked them about it or how the diode is installed. CAUTION!!! If you are not a competent electrician, don't try this, buy a harness from SMS!! PS: I also added a fuse to the 20amp circuit at the battery.

I used those relays in the Cherokee by mistake. I don't think the diode does anything in that case. I took electronics in school many years ago. My son is in electronics in school right now. I am going to do the fog lights while I'm at it. It is nice to have them on with the high beams, because it fills in the dark area in front of the Jeep. Gonna use Delta fogs that bolt in, and are 55w. I'll get those relays from SMS. I don't know if I'll drive down or just call. Thanks for the response. I saw the diagram after I ask the question.

Check your state laws, usually fogs go w/ low beam, driving lights w/ high beam. Only 4 lights, including head lights can be on at once. Someone else will have to comment about the Deltas.

I did it! I read all 14 pages over a 3 day span.

Now, what lights do I need?? Just kidding. I just ordered a set of the Vision X fogs, they had a labor day sale for $307 for the pair, delivered. And I will end up getting the Truck-lite's WITHOUT the $160 adapter. I will deal with the flicker at idle, or just go through red lights, so I don't have to idle. Thanks for all the hard work that a lot of you put in to this thread. It is appreciated.

I'm a former Army Infantry guy that likes to drive offroad tactical on occasion for no sane or rational reason

Yellow would be legal; amber almost legal.

Ok, I just want to get this all straight...sorry to repeat things or if I missed something...

Truck-Lite with the H4 to H13 Adapter (96630) is roughly $420 shipped but you will get a flicker. Ordering the Rally Lights Harness (H13 to H4) for $160 will eliminate the flicker.

So, if you order the Rally Lights Harness, why order the H4 to H13 Adapter with the headlights?

You don't. (Answering the part I highlighted in red). That adapter is only if you don't buy the RL harness.

Ok cool. So I am looking at roughly $405 for the headlights and then $160 for the harness.

Definitely want to do this. My mod list continues to grow

Well I got all the pieces from SMS. I drove down there, and those guys are great people. I just broke down, and bought the harness. The gentlemen, and ladies were very helpful. The gentleman that builds the harnesses talk to me for a while, and showed me the oscilloscope print out of the voltage of the stock headlight wiring. It was 10.9 volts 79% on 21% off at 90 hertz. Then he showed me their harness readings. It was a steady 14 volts. He also told me that most JK's run high on voltage. They gave me the whole tour, it was a good time. They have everything you could want in lighting, and related products. They are moving though. To a place up on Rte 222, which is a very well traveled road here in PA. I saw pictures of the new place, and they should be happy there too.

Thanks for the info. They are about 80 miles from me. If they were a little closer I'd take a ride over there.

It's great. So happy I went stick, my last vehicle of 9 years was an auto so the Jeep had to be manual. The traffic is not terrible near me, just rush hour, like most people.

I have the Truck Lites installed but I am getting this annoying arc of an artifact well above the cut off. There is a bevel in the outer edge of the rim of the light that is causing it. See pics.

Anybody else experiencing this?

I guess nothing is perfect though I wish it to be so.

Yup I get that as well. I am also running Rays Harness to eliminate flicker. My Jeep is going into Fury Motors for the weekend so they can Aim the lights properly and also check out a few clicks and clunks I dont like. Such as when the car sits over night it starts up and sounds like theres zero oil in it.. Scary... i will post photos from the factory aimed headlights too once they are done.

Brights

Not Brights

I think its the design of the bezel too for that *x* and cut off...
but she sure does look pretty when the lights are on.. i dont think i have turned my fog lights on once since installing the TruckLites... so now I am not as concerned with a replacement bumper having fog light holes.. SCORE!

That's the normal DOT headlight signature. The ECE signature has a hockey-stick uptick off to the passenger side; we get the center bump.
Somebody sometime thought it was a good idea.
