The battery terminals on my 13' appears to be aluminum along with the nuts and connectors. The negative terminal has an empty bolt but no nut. Anyone know the size? If it is aluminum would it be a bad idea to mix metals by using other metal connectors and nut? Ideas?

The bolt should be metric, M6x1.0. The terminals are tin plated, not aluminum and the fasteners are zinc plated steel.

Regarding the Jw Speakers LEDs

Ok, after reading the almost endless pages of this post, I still trying to figure out how much modification I have to make if I want to get these set of headlamps.

Will I have to cut stuff off from the holding bracket? Will it be permanent alteration that in the future I may or not regret? Thanks in advance.

J.W Speaker lamps

I mean the Headlights. I was comparing this and the Truc-Lites. Seems lot of comments online that the J.W. are a little bit more challenge to install due to the fit.

Sounds like some trimming is required to install the JW Speakers. Check out this thread: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/jw-...ts-149602.html

Didn't JW make a revision/change to the 8700, a few months ago which allows it to fit w/o all the hassle?

There's nothing wrong with the fit. Plug and play. The update in August that includes a new harness by JW Speaker eliminates the flicker. It works beautifully for me. Love the lights.

The buldges look just the right size to be capacitors for both the high & low beam circuits. That's all that's required to even out the pulses. Capacitors are also what causes the slight delay when switching from high to low beam or back.

Your lights look different than mine but I read that you also mentioned that JW had a recent update. My JW lights don't have the word speaker written at the top.

^^this. i was referring to this harness pictured.

so the new jw speakers have an updated harness and no longer have an issue with flickering? i have read opposite reviews. i read a very recent headlight shootout from another forum that still notes the flickering as well. if this is true they are much more competitive price wise since the other options have required an expensive harness putting them at the $600 range anyways.

Would like more info as well. Where were the ones purchased that included the harness?
So with the adapters on this page is that all we would need?

I have the JW 8700s and have no issues with flickering. I love these things. As long as the production is after aug 17 you do not need a harness. That was also confirmed by JW speaker.

I can only speak to my JW Speaker Evolution 8700's. The first set I bought had an awful flicker. It was more like a strobe light effect that was extremely annoying. I was pulled over by a CO State Trooper who asked me, "what's up with your lights?". It just so happened that I was on my way to the 4x4 shop to swap out for the newer version 8700's. I showed him the boxes that the first set of lights came in, so he let me go.

Thanks to Wiscosolid, who let me know that JW Speaker made a harness modification that would eliminat the flicker on Wranglers. Any lights manufactured after Aug. 17, 2012 would not flicker. I called Speaker, and they told me to call my shop to ensure they had the newer dated lights, and go swap them out.

It's true. No more flicker and I'm extremely happy with the lights. Good looks and functionalilty. Great combinaton.

I called them directly. They acknowledged the issue and told me the exact date to look for on any 8700s I ordered.

So can anyone with the older version get the new revised lights? I bought mine about a year ago.

Sounds Nice! I just checked out jw speaker lights on google and found this. Is this really what they cost? Also, what's the difference between 8700 hd and evolution? Easy install for average mechanically inclined?

Yes, they're pricey. I looked hard at the Deltas and Trucklites, but in the end, I just liked the looks of the JW Speaker. I think you mean "HB", which is a high beam only configuration. What you want is the 8700 Evolution headlights. Very simple install. Essentially, a plug and play. Approximately 30 minutes to install. A little more time on the first set, not knowing what to expect.

They put out some serious "white" light. Make sure the manufacture date is post August 17, 2012. Date's on the box.
