Question "Hella"va Hood Glare?

I love the look.

How's the hood glare from those spots?

Can the top lights be set back so that there's a shadow from the leading edge of the roof so that there's very little hood glare from the top lights but not cut out much coverage in front of the hood? It seems like the sharper angle from the roof would still enable the lights to "see" more closely to the front bumper than I can with my eyes lower than the roof?

Are there more lumens than any LEDs out there, or are the lumens similar and I can save some $$s with the Hellas?

I need more side coverage and am considering LED spots pointed 45-90 degrees to the side (whatever it takes for a tiny overlap with my bumper mounted LED bar or zero hood glare, whichever is the limiting factor. Not pretty, but functional?
I'm leaning towards LED spots since I also have LED fog lamps, but then again the rig's no beauty already (white roof with black fenders).

Opinions welcome.

Does anyone have a suggestion for modifying single stud mount lights to work flush-mounted inside a bumper (as stock fogs are mounted)? I'm picturing something like the Rigid mounting bracket for the Dually lights, but with an angle on the bottom to clamp the single post into.

Had Shrockworks build mid-width bumper to fit Dually D2's. Also, rear bumper has additional back up lights.

I ordered the 6045s, did you have to order anything else with it like harness or special brackets to put it in? I see you used nemesis mounts, but didn't you grt a harness when you bought them or just the lights come in the box?

Thanks for the info, bought the nemesis mounts, not sure if I need the T1G harness? The guy at DCF said I don't need a harness?? I will be putting the fogs in my 10A steel bumper don't know if there is a difference.

It's just the plug and play harness from Rebel Offroad, no relay or anything

I've ordered the Truck-Lite Phase 7 kit, just with the H13 to H4 adapter for now. Hopefully someone can provide some input on this, since I haven't seen a definitive answer to it anywhere - will the flickering (voltage fluctuation) damage the LED's, or is it just an annoyance?

I feel I can live with it, but if it'll actually cause harm, then I'll spring for the SMS harness. And speaking of that... I assume with the harness, the switches will still work the same, and the only change is the power source, correct?

Tease shots:

Hella 90mm HIDs... drool drool drool

I reached out to a couple of friends to test these two products; all of my buddies with JKs that are in the area are already running upgraded lights.

I got Rob to purchase the 90mm Hella HID kit from Rallylights (thanks for the discount Dave!!!) to install in his 1987 60-series Land Cruiser and Mikey is running the JWS driving lights on his D90 until they get raffled off in September (proceeds going to Habitat For Humanity). Mike will likely buy them after seeing what they can do.

Big thanks to my friends Mike and Annette Holbrook at Wolfbrook for lending us a very dark and quiet field on their property to test these lights!
Wolfbrook is where we trained my dog Jessi; Mike & Annette taught us how to speak dog and take her from rescue-dog to Wundermutt.
I still have to compile data on this but the lights are sweet.

And speaking of sweet, have you ever seen a D90 with lights that were exceptional? I mean that really really worked?
And hardly used any amperage?
Well, looky at this. Mike's D90 with Trucklite Phase 7 headlights and JW Speaker's TS3000R (flamethrower) driving lights.

Moved my 20" Rigid E-Series from the bumper to the Hood w/ the Rigid Brackets. I like the look in person, not as much in pictures. Reflects a bit off the bulge in the AEV hood, but does not bother me at night since the Lightbar blocks the reflection from blinding me. Have a set of JW Speaker TS3000R Driving lights coming for the Bumper. 8700 Evolution headlights and 6045 foglights w/ Nemesis brackets, for the record...

I have the IPCW Bermuda Black LED Tail Lights and Rigid SR-M2 (Diffused) on the Rigid brackets. I am going to be removing the SR-M2's and replacing them with the NEW SR-Q2 (Diffused), and selling the SR-M2's to a buddy.

Do you need to notify NORAD before you light them all up?

Not if they're aimed properly, haha.

Apparently, I like my LEDs, more than I like having money in my Bank Account.

How do you like the IPCW's? Any issues with leaking as others have reported? And how does the Bermuda Black lens affect the brightness or color of the red and white LEDs? Sorry for 20 questions but been considering them and would welcome some real world input!

I like them. I didn't originally have any issues, until I installed the Rigid light brackets. They don't tell you in their instructions, but I should have thought about it, and did it myself; The holes that get drilled into the taillights to mount the brackets SHOULD be sealed up, especially when using the IPCW's as the LED boards are somewhat explosed. Red is really bright. White, is bright, but not focused for reverse use. That's why I added the Rigid's to them, lol.

Pat O at Fields Jeep tells me that he's installed the lights in brandy-new JKs without flicker ------ I haven't personally seen this happen nor have I scoped a Pentastar-equipped JK yet.

I do have a friend with a spiffy new JKUR that's in dire need of headlights and I think I should be able to put a 'scope to it and see what the PWM is doing.

I'm still of the opinion that a full harness is the best route to take and that an isolated circuit makes for a happy JK in the long run.

I'll be installing them in my 2013 JKR this week (they're scheduled to arrive on Wednesday); I'll post the results here. As long as the voltage fluctuations don't damage the LED's, I think I can live with it if it's no worse than in the videos that have been posted.
