I have a 04 black Jeep Wrangler and the other day driving down the road I saw another wrangler with a sick looking halo kit on it. I was really wanting to do a blue halo kit because I really like the combination of black and blue. Then i did some research and blue and red headlights are illegal because of emergency vehicles. Please correct me if I'm wrong. So I am now leaning towards the green halo kit because they are legal here in South Carolina...at least i'm pretty sure. And also the green and black combination is my second favorite choice. How do you guys think the green halo kit will look?
I think it'll look great. Haven't seen them on the road, but am thinking about them for my green Jeep. Pics please, if you do it.
Thanks for your input! I like the thought of black and green just wasnt sure what other people thought. I'm probably going to get the halo kit with any money i get for my birthday in September so I will post some pictures of the new lights then!
Ya. But so is doing flush mount led tails, aftermarket headlight bulbs and most eBay h4 conversion housings. Anything you do to modify the lighting from stock lighting. You should be fine as long as it don't scream "look at me and my halos". I would say green white yellow orange or lighter blue would be fine and make sure they don't flash at all.
I have a Commando Green JKU and I took it out at night for the first time and noticed just how terrible the stock lights are. I have solar-powered flashlights that emit more light. So I went looking and I thought a set of green Halos might look pretty cool but what I can't figure out is when you buy a Halo kit, do you also get a replacement center light as well, or do I need to go buy new main headlights -and- the halo kit? While the halos look cool, I need to solve the "I can't see crap at night" problem first.
Also, some more information about the legality/illegality of Halos would be awesome.
I do know that if you order the halo kit made by oracle it is the entire lamp as one bulb. With the jeeps it is just a big bulb...unless i believe you could do an HID conversion kit and change the bulb color inside that...maybe...i'm not to sure o that, correct me if i'm wrong. But i do know that the halo lights are one bulb. It shows in the bottom of this picture.
I used to have the blue HIDs installed on my dakota. I never got pulled over (I got flashed occasionally) but never pulled for it. I would go with blue instead of green if their all illegal, at least that way it would look more like an HID option. The green would stand out immensely in my opinion but if that's what you're going for by all means go green. I know if you got blue you can grab a pair of blue bulbs for your fog lights to match. I'm not to sure about the law but it seems like half the things you can buy for your truck/jeep/car are illegal. I would just wire them to a switch to cut them on and off just incase you find the cops don't like you having it you can hide it from them.
Just go with blue? I have them, they aren't the brightest thing during the day, but around sunset they look sweet! And at night you can't tell I got them cause my hid lights are too bright so the halo kinda fades away.
Well, I'm definitely a fan of halos on Jeeps...been running them for about 6 months now. I've gotten so many compliments on them...even from non-Jeepers. Blue is definitely illegal...I believe red is too. But, white is NOT...if they were, then all the BMW's, Audi's, VW's, the new Grand Cherokee would not have them.
I have mine hooked up directly to the ignition with relay switches so I can turn them off and on when I want to...as long as the switches are on, they automatically come on when I start up the Jeep.
