23 channel? I'm thinking Royce never made a 40 channel CB. But to help you in your search, if I recall correctly, Royce is the same thing as General Electric and Sears.

Do you knwo what model? Royce made some particullarly large units, I think. My memory may be flawed though....

Correcting myself. GE and Royce are the same radios. Sears, as a general rule, was a Uniden and chasis with some screwy changes.

I just looked on Ebay and there are quite a bit of Royce on there and they are going pretty low. They do have 40 channel models. I thought they were defunct before that point, but I was mistaken.

Just Curious, but why Royce? You can get a modern SSB CB Radio. Cobra, Midland, and Uniden still make them.

Ebay is probably your best bit for finding the Royce you want. I found a CPI CB on there, but it took some time before the right one can up for auction.

Check out the Communications forum and look at the "CB" thread. Then look to KA5IVR's response. It pretty much sums it all up. The 10 meter radio is a Ham band radio.

Yep. 10 meter radio is not type accepted by the FCC for use on the 11 meter bands (CB), therefore is illegal. These radios use see advertised as 10 meter CBs are generally very low quality CBs and particullarly low quality for the ham bands. I would advise staying away from them.

My personal preferrence for CB is Uniden. I think Cobra is a descent product, but IMO, they seem to be Uniden clones. At least, for many years they were.

Unfortunately Uniden no longer makes a compact SSB radio, but you don't need it anyway. I'm not sure of what the Cobra models are these days, but most have WX on them.

Personally, for a Jeep, I feel like the Uniden 520XL is the perfect radio. It's very small and is a nice sounding, quality radio. Plus, the price is right!

I thought Uniden still had their "President" line. I guess they sold that line.

I don't think Uniden and President have been affiliated for quite a while. The only thing I see that is President and current is some 10 meter stuff. I don't feel like it is the same people.

I think you're right. I was thinking of the association 10 or 20 years ago. I only bought my last CB's (Cobra 18 & 75) because of the new Jeep. Before that, sometime in the 70's, Good Buddy.

Let's not go into how much HAM Equipment has been purchased!
