However, i would like to know whether i should spray paint my new metalcloak arms? what exactly are the arms made of? i found the answer to the previous question once before on the internets but its so hard to find again. and how weather resistant are the arms with no paint, cuz i wouldnt mind running them as is.

The MetalCloak Control Arms are Zinc Plated with a Gold Chromate Conversion Coating.

If you drive your Jeep in severe salt conditions, like near the ocean or in snow weather zones that use salt on the streets we recommend painting the arms for added sealing protection.

If you are not in a severe salt environment, painting is not needed, the Zinc Plating with a Gold Chromate Conversion Coating is a very durable and very long lasting protection against corrosion. Please watch our video below.

I hope this information is helpful.

What do you recommend painting them with?

Should I sand, etch primer, rattle can..

The video states using the existing zinc coating as the primer, so just clean off oils and rattle can I assume?

I would recommend wiping them down with a degreaser and paint them with a good quality spray paint.

Thanks Will, I am doing just that, but with a little auto primer first. Seems to be working out great
