01 and hardtop

I picked up my first jeep today. A 2001 sport with 77k. Very clean but still has the normal chips and scuffs.

My question is this, it has a hard top on it now and a safari top as well. How/what do I need to look for to see if it is wired for the hard top? Where is the pigtail that hooks to the hard top? And what are some tips? Like stay with stock bolt system vs the quick system. What do I need to look out for? I did not get a owners book for jeep.

Thanks

the harness really only does the back window wiper and the defroster... its in the rear drivers corner... some have a tube as well for the squirter that should be ran unplugged for a few seconds to clean any nastiness... out side of that, store it above ground on level stands, because the dirt will eat away the seal over time and the fiberglass can warp if stored on an uneven surface, especially if it gets really hot out where you are... also, i personally got rid of the stock bolts and nuts and put 5/16" rivet nuts (most auto body stores or grainger/mcmaster carr/MSC...) and modified some flanged hex head bolts by just putting a taper to the bottom so that all i had to do was screw it down and not have to fiddle with the little square blocks in the corners...
outside of any of that, just make sure the seal at the bottom is good and there's no cracks... there isn't much to them...

also** store with the back window down, or take off the air springs and bring them inside, as they will rust to the point of no return if they are stored with the window open...

^learned that the hard way... lol

Thanks for the reply. Good info. I have some excavating to do it looks like.

My plan is to get the hard top winch for my shop. It has 10' rafters.

Well after further review, I think the hard top was not from factory as there is no controls for the defrost or wipers in the dash.

So either I sell it for a nice soft top or go for a wiring kit for hard tops. That is still a debate with winter as a factor. I'm in Oklahoma so you never know. Last year was awesome, but there a few years ago was crazy cold all the time. Who knows.
