Just a note. Pennzoil platinum received good remarks, better than all other Over the counter oils on oil analysis of more than a few VQ35 engines (as seen in Nissan 350z, Infiniti G35, FX35, etc etc etc.)

Its their "synthetic" oil. I can't comment on their conventional oils.

woo hoo, you think that these people were talking bad about the family or something, it's all personal preference,I switched my diesel over to syn' years ago and change it about every 10,000 miles we bought our 06' jeep in jan. this year and when I did the first oil change I went with mobil 1 because I have had good luck in the past.it is just like the the ford versus chevy versus dodge thing,if you like the results you see when you change the oil then go for it,if not change it until you do,

I look at it like this as far as the synthetic oil. If all the high end sports cars like Lambo and Ferri use Mobile 1 Synthetic oil and they cost 100K plus well then it is more than good for my Jeep and anything else I drive considering they cost alot more and go under alot more strain with the higher compressions and high rpms, but have used Castrol 10w 40 for years and never had a problem. But use synthetic now. The only thing is once you go synthetic, its not wise to go back to normal oil.Well worth the money on synthetic, runs smoother, quiter and fewer oil changes.

I agree bumpkin. I've used Mobil 1 Full Synthetic in every vehicle I've owned since the 90's. I use it in my race/street bike, my Ford pickup and my Jeep. I've used it in my last 4 or 5 motorcycles, my riding lawnmower and my girlfriend's car. I like the way it performs and I don't care that it costs more than dino oil. Face it people. Many of us aren't going to be swayed by your opinions on synthetic/conventional oils. I'll continue to use Mobil 1 Full Synthetic oil in all of my vehicles regardless of your opinions. I'm not going to tell anyone here that their opinion is wrong, just that I believe my opinion to be right. Let the debate continue........

funny thing is i saw this pop up and since i hadnt read the thread i always start at the begining and checked out the website and everything... didnt realize this thread was three years old till the end of the first page HAH!

:dead horse:

i use synthetic blend, castrol 5w30, just started it actually. and made my engine "ticking" go away to where i dont hear it anymore...

so i pretty much wasted my money on a buying an extended warranty when i bought the JK a few months ago because the dealership should have changed the oil... when i did change it a few weeks ago it was almost black and missing a quart of oil... runs like a top now.
