1985 Jeep

Would you buy a jeep with a fiberglass body. I looked at one with a straight 6 and 5 speed transmission, Transmission suppose to have been rebuilt. Guy was asking $3000. Seems to run good, drives good, got it to 65 mph quicker than I thought I could without any noticeable shakes, shimmies, or vibrations. It needs some tlc,but what really concerns me is the fiberglass body.Any thoughts on these bodies?

My friends jeep has fiberglass body panels, no rust!

Do I look like a cat to you boy? Am I jumpin' around all nimbly bimbly from tree to tree? Am I drinking milk from a saucer? DO YOU SEE ME EATING MICE?

considering how much those fiberglass parts cost new, i would say that is a steal at $3000. the only company i can think of that does fiberglass bodies is Kentrol, and they seem to have a nice product. and no rust is nice too.

Well unless you get a cj from Arizona they are going to have rust. Some times they are really beyond repair....including mine but I fixed it anyway. The most common replacement is a yj tub swap.

There are a few places that has made tubs over the year. I think some has quality/fitment issues. If it feels strong and looks ok you are fine. Even the cheap bodies were $2k or more...,but that price is just from memory.

Now CJ's with fiberglass bodies are not worth as much but if you enjoy it that's all that matters.

Sounds like a good buy to me.
