1990 yj with carbureted 4.0l backfires runs rough for a bit then stalls

last night when coming home it backfires then RPM wen't to zero the wen't back to 800-1000 then dies out it started right back up and ran fine 9mils later it did the same thing first jeep i've owned so i a bit lost I've been dealing with EFI to so i'm really lost

crap i for got to say it had a 4.2l but now has a 4.0l but it has the 4.2l Weber carb on the 4.0l lol
