1995 Wrangler gas nozzle not sticking at pump

Some gas stations are OK, but at a lot the nozzle doesn't stay locked to allow gas flow. I press it and it stops flowing gas. I'll have to get $10 at some gas stations cause I'm going up like 20 cents at a time. Get 20 cents, unclicks, get 20 cents, unclicks... Anyone know what the problem is?

my 99 does the same thing. i tried pulling the nozzle out just a little, and that seemed to help. but i was also at a different gas station, so it could have been that to.

Turn the gas handle upside down. My Crown Vic is the same way. But for some unknown reason, it flows fine upside down. ??????

In my 1995 i had that happen till i slid out the inner tube a good 5-6" which allowed me to fill up the tank to i think 20+ gallons. I am pretty sure that they offered two tank sizes and the only difference was a longer filler neck. Once i did that i had no problems.

Adjust the angle of the gas hose... sometimes switch from right hand to left hand or... as one person suggested... upside down.

mine is quite finicky as well......

The only place I haven't had a problem was rural areas where we don't have the vapor recovery hoses. As an aside we have a new Safeway Gas Station and their hoses work just fine on the YJ?
