2" shackles?

I'm in a budget and looking for a small lift. I've seen body lifts and shackle lift for reasonable prices. However I don't want a huge gap by going with a body lift. I was interested in the 2in shackle lift. Good or bad idea with the shackle lift? If bad, why? By the way I have an 89 yj.

no one chimed in yet? Hmmm....

Well, it depends a lot on what tires you want to run. Up to 31's yeah you can do a 2" shackle lift. 33" and you'll want a 4" lift.

As for the 2" shackle lift though, its pretty cheap and you don't need to change the pitman arm and/or the angle of the gearbox...

To get 2 inches of lift from shackles you'll be running shackles that are 8 inches long, you'll also want to get degree shims to set your caster back to normal.. IMO it will look silly. Having 6 inch long shakles (1 inch lift) doesn't look too bad, but still you'll want to measure caster angle and use shims.

@sevenservices, I was thinking of 33" tires. However, I just wanted to give it a small lift for now. Looks kind of odd with a stock lift. Thanks for your feedback.
