2010 Jeep Wrangler Question

Anyone have this rust problem with their 2010 Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited? I only have about 3,800 miles on it.

That's normal. It's oxidation, not rust. Let your Jeep sit for a day or so after it rains and you'll see the same thing on your brake rotors.

hahaha, I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that humorous.

I'll take our Snakes, scorpions, and large hairy spiders over rust any day.

Here is the chemical formula for rust.....

Fe+O2= FeO2

Iron plus oxygen equals rust...its the same thing as oxidation.

I have the same problem and mine is only a week old. This did not happen on my 99TJ. It is only surface rust, but it still looks terrible. I also have rust on two of the screws on the side of the windshield. Seems like Jeep is cutting corners on quality. Whats their new slogan? "What we make is what makes us"???

Sorry to say but that oxidation is gonna kill that metal in about 460,000 miles. You've been warned!!!

That orange was probably there when you bought the vehicle, I have never seen one without it looking like that.

hell, you should see what the undercarriage of mine looks like it's an 07. all the welds on the rockers, both driveshafts, bolts, everything without paint. I'll take a pic after work.

it's just surface rust. nothing to get upset about. rust is ok as long as it's not making a hole or cracks. don't worry about it

if you let bare metal sit out for a little while, that will happen on it's own, especially in humid climates. it's just surface oxidation, it's normal.
