2011 vs. 2013 - Engine and other changes?

I have two 2011 Sports/Auto/PowerPackage/Alloys in my area with less than 15k miles on them.

Can pick them up for about $20k and still have a bit of factory warranty left. I would be saving about $7k off a new one similarly equipped.

It looks like everything is the same with the two models except for the engines.

Is the new engine that much better to make me spend much more? Payments would be $125 more a month appx. for 2013

Any and all feedback or suggestions are welcome. Thx!

The 2011 engine was a deal breaker for me, I find the 2013 engine adequate.. I'm used to turbo engines that I don't have to down shift on hills though. I was surprised how often I still need to downshift the 2013 engine... But its mostly just from 6th to 5th on really steep hills on back roads.

Granted, I have the lowest gear ratio offered, higher MPG's but less quickness.

So you think 2011 would be fine for me? Weekend city vehicle and snow beast for work?

It could definitely be! Have you test driven both back to back? That should really help you make up your mind. I'm all about engine power, one of the biggest considerations for a car when I buy it is acceleration. Some people could care less though.

On my first long distance 100 mile ride yesterday, I realized there's so much more to love about the jeep experience than what the engine puts out. But for me, the 2013 engine was still a necessity.. When I buy cars, I usually opt for a larger engine with less options, rather than small engine loaded with features. I'm more of a Jeremy Clarkson than a James May.

My primary car is a Fusion Hybrid. A 3.8 liter V-6 would be fine I guess

I also chose between a 2011 and 2013 three months ago. I decided to save the money and go with the 2011. It all depends on what you look for in a vehicle and your jeep. I've got a 3/4 ton that I can tow with and my wife has her large comfortable SUV that we use the most. I also felt that it wasn't worth buying a brand new jeep that would sit in the garage most days. A jeep to me is all about enjoying the scenery and getting me places the other two vehicles can't. Speed was the last thing i worried about. As others say, drive both at highway speeds and pass a few people. That should help you decide
