I'm going to give it a chance when I see it in person. Sometimes an edgy design grows on you, sometimes (like the Juke), it doesn't. I actually like the profile and don't mind the rear styling, even though the Tribeca comment was right on the money. I might not even mind the high mounted marker lights if there was some connection to the headlights.

The poor thing is getting savaged on Jeeps Facebook posts.

In just a few short days my thoughts on it have changed. After looking the Trailhawk over this vehicle is going to be a great substitute for someone who wants capability but also a decent commuter. It will be far more capable than the Liberty line and it should ride a lot better and it's going to get far better gas mileage. The real shame and issue is the front end is seriously ugly as sin but otherwise this will be a nice Jeep. I'm just curious on pricing.

My first Jeep was a 2001 Cherokee. Hopefully this model will uphold the proud Jeep name but when I look at it CHEROKEE does not come to mind.

Definitely true. That's my hardest down fall. It will be a good off-roader and will have more power, get way better MPG, and will ride nicer than it's replacement.

My Dad just sent me this from the plant. They put the new Cherokee outside the sign today.

After further review, the trim levels that have the center light clusters blacked out make the front end almost tolerable. The rear, however, still looks like a Hyundai and I wouldn't be caught dead driving it. If it looked more like the Patriot or refreshed Compass, I could actually see buying one for a DD.

I'm growing on it more and more. The sides and back are fine. The front is still ugly but the Trailhawk would be the only option. I'd like to see more interior pics and more importantly pricing.

You're all arguing about a name. A name.

Just think about that for a second.

It's things like this that make me lose faith in humanity.

If you were forced to live with a Juke, you would eventually tolerate the styling, then eventually like it, then eventually love it.

I get that they're trying to appeal to the casual market, but this design is just, no.

It just baffles me that they discontinued the cherokee after it was so popular, especially since

Quote:
The XJ Jeep has been described as one of the 20 greatest cars of all time, and "possibly the best SUV shape of all time, it is the paradigmatic model to which other designers have since aspired".
Then why did they get rid of it until now? Why did they have to go and redesign it if it was already extremely popular with it's current design?
