On a serious note - any way we can petition to have the name CHEROKEE taken off this thing??

I had one of the last Cherokee's 2001. Someone in the design department as well as those who approved this must be on the crack pipe.

Nobody believed me when I promised everyone it was the Cherokee, just wait. Or when I said it will be rounded or have 4 wheel independent suspension. Although I hear it does surprisingly well off-road (obviously not a Wrangler).

going full retard here. It hasn't even been stepped in and you're calling it cheap? Quality will be high on these new Cherokee's. One positive thing about it. And since they remake the Liberty they are going to strip down the Rubicon? Think you're jumping the gun a little bit brah? And no I'm not a fan of it either but the Liberty was not competing well within it's class cause nobody gave a shit about offroading. They just wanted a smooth ride and enough place to put their groceries. Off-roaders buy Wranglers. I am still disappointed they didn't make it an off-road vehicle though, even though I knew this for over a year

Also, there will be an "off-road" edition as well that I was "told" looks pretty good but it's not ready yet. I'm finding out now if it's a special edition like an Arctic or if it's a trim level like a Rubicon.

Looks hideous to me but I'm sure it'll still be a competent. Just hope they don't do something drastic with "our" Jeeps on the next go round!

A lot can change in a few years but there are no plans to go away from solid axles. They know they outlash it would cause but on a side note the value of our JK's would go up. Either way highly unlikely anything drastic will happen to the Wranglers. Even with the Italians changing things up.

Oh I totally agree. That would be a bad move on the Wrangler. I just wonder how many GC owners saw this one coming?

Agreed I had a 2000 Cherokee for almost 10 years and this thing is NOT a Cherokee. LAME How many more Compass, Patriots etc does Jeep need? I don't see much of a difference. Seems we used to get a small, medium and large options and now we're getting extra small, small, medium small, larger than medium small.......or extra lame, lame and kinda lame.....

Yea production is through the roof on the Wrangler. It's definitely a "it ain't broke so we have no plans of fixing it" situation right now. People who buy Wranglers know what they are getting so they are a lot more immune to the whiny babies who complained other Jeep models rode to rough.

Definitely agree it's not a Cherokee but just to be clear it wasn't supposed to be bringing back the Cherokee it was rebranding a replacement for the Liberty. Again the Liberty was the most durable SUV in that class but got outperformed on most every other category. One of the biggest complaints was how rough the ride was. So naturally they are not going to come out with another one just as rough to appease the crowd from 12+ years ago.

But on a side note I just was talking to my brother (he's in the plant right now) and said the same thing you said about the lineup. Do they really need a Patriot, Compass, Cherokee, and Grand Cherokee. The GC is nice but the others are basically cars or cross-overs.

Oh and the offroad package (still trying waiting if it's a trim or special edition) will have trimmed fender flares for more independent (see what I did there) travel as well as more aggressive tires.

So let me get this straight the new "Cherokee" is a re-branding replacement for the Liberty which if I remember correctly was a re-branding replacement for the Cherokee??? Thank god its Friday, i need a freaking beer.

In Europe, what is the liberty here, is called the cherokee over there. So if this is the updated liberty, it would be called cherokee over seas

This thing has design failure written all over it. Jeep will have to throw big money on the hood to sell these turds. Really insulting the Cherokee name has been reduced to this level....
