350 ax-15

i was talking w/ a guy i might buy an engine off of. he's swapping in a 350, and he's using the stock ax-15 trans. i offered my opinion, asking are you sure it can handle it, and how much is a bell housing for that? he is convinced it is the only jeep trans strong enough to handle that motor, this is what novak told him. what do you guys say about this, i'm just curious. maybe i'm wrong, and it can handle it, but i don't think i'd recommend it.

A stroker alot of times makes more power than a stock 350 and the ax15 is fine with that. Is this a stock 350?

Take a look at this thread.

ax-15 would not be my choice for a v8. nv4500 would work.

Novak makes an adapter for the AX-15/350ci combo, but I would also suggest an NV4500.

If you chose the stroker, the AX-15 will be fine.

The AX-15 would hold up, depending on the driver. I speed, have really bad road rage, etc. I would need the NV4500 upgrade. If he is easy with the gas pedal and doesn't do any major hardcore offroading, the AX-15 will hold up.

Ya the ax15 is pretty strong. Alot of time problems with them are caused by people using the wrong fluid. But if you are the type that is roughf on the clutch and gas every day then you would want a nv4500. I'm going to run my stroker infront of my ax15 because I think it should work fine from all my reading. If it blows then I'll upgrade. If the 350 is stock or close to it The ax15 is okay since a stroker is alot of time putting out bigger numbers than a stock 350. But a nv4500 is always nice to have.
