4.0 Buying Question

So my friend is looking to purchase a wrangler within the next couple of weeks. He wants the 4.0 motor and has found a wrangler in great shape almost no rust with the 4.0. The only this is it has 175,000 miles. Should he be worried about how long the motor is going to last and what would be the problems he would be running into when purchasing this.

It would be good to take it for a drive before making a judgement. When you're looking at something in the high miles, it could be a whole range of things from good to bad, depending on how it was maintained. A well-maintained 4.0 can last well over 300,000 miles, while a poorly maintained one may not make it to a third of that.

The jeep has been offroaded a bit. What should the oil pressure be at? What mpg should it be averaging for a 5speed?

My 1998 has 144k on it and uses no oil between changes. Remarkably, Carfax says I just had an oil change done in Kansas a couple of months ago, and I now have 194K on my Jeep.

My Jeep has never been anywhere near Kansas it's whole life. LOL

Oil Pressure should be around 40 while driving and the mileage depends on how big the lift and tires are.
