4.0 Intake question

Ok I want to let my engine breath a little more to get a little more horsepower and a deep throaty sound. I was thinking of getting a kit from quadratec where the price starts at 174.00 and up, then i saw a few on ebay for about 50 bucks. You always here you get what you pay for, I know I know. But isnt it just a tube with a open filter on the end. anyone try these knockoffs.

Yeah I never understood why they were so expensive. I put one on my last Jeep (4cyl) and I'm pretty sure I only "felt a difference" was because I was expecting it to work. And it just made it sound even more like a ricer along with the exhaust.

I'd keep it stock and just get a drop in K&N replacement filter.

i wouldnt. k&n filters are notorious for letting dirt and dust through.

i have an ebay intake, the filter wasn't that great so i ended up replacing it with k&n filter and it works great. there was a noticeable gain in throttle response and 3rd gear has some more balls to it. gas millage went up 2 or 3 mpg. it was loud but didn't have that ricer sound and with the k&n filter the noise is much lower.

I put on a Banks ram air on my 4.0 and it made a difference in MPG and power. Then the throttle body spacer, it makes a cool whistle sound
