4 wheel drive problem, please help

Today I was just coming out of a trail...I stop to remove the 4L..
Then the arm to put the 4x4 whent loose ...what is happening ...had to get towing back
Can somebody help me please

I'm going to guess your shifter linkage broke. It would be very helpful if you told us more about the jeep. JK? TJ? YJ? Stock? Did you hear any funny noises or pops on the trail?

This is my guess. The linkage has plastic in it and when it breaks, it disables the shifter. It costs a couple of dollars for the parts to repair it. Sadly, the accountants at Chrysler sometimes overrule proper engineering.
