50' of 3/8 or 100' of 5/16?

Trying to spool up my Ramsey 8.5e with synthetic rope. I have done tons of reading and it seems as if 5/16 would get the job done, but 3/8 has a higher safety margin against abrasions and such. Fact of the matter is, I dont have the $$$ to get 100' of 3/8" synthetic line.

I have two options,

50' of Master Pull 3/8 for $131
Master Pull LCP Synthetic Winchline rope 3/8"x50' w/ Sling Hook 18,000 lbs | eBay

Or 100' of Promark 5/16" for $99
5/16" Synthetic Rope 12000lb Recovery Winch 12000 lb - Free Shipping SK | eBay

Any drawbacks to only using 50' of line?

Go with the 100'. It should be plenty strong enough. Also, from reading the ad on 50', it says, " The LCP line also has 20ft. of liquid crystal polymer rope spliced to the drum end of the line. This high heat resistant rope wraps around the first layer of the drum and protects the rest of the winch rope from winch drum overheating." If you have to wrap 20' around the drum, then you are down to 30' of rope to pull with.

The more wraps on the drum the more it cuts the capacity, and 90% of the time you'll only use 10 to 15 feet. Id go with the 50' and have a strap in the back

Can you fit 80' of 3/8" line? Or I guess a better question would be can you afford it?

Personally I'd wait until you've saved enough that you can afford the proper length of 3/8" line for your winch. You can always carry extra straps, but I'd rather have enough line on the winch than have to worry about packing extra stuff.
