97 Wrangler Sport with sputter. HELP!

I just had a 97 manual 4.0L Jeep traded to me and it has some issues. I don't know a thing about Jeeps (shame on me) and could use any help I could get to make this thing run strong.

Slow to start (have to leave ignition turned over and pump gas)
When idling it sputters every once in a while
While driving it starts to sputter, but if I pump the gas it goes away.
All problems are intermittent, it usually runs fine.

I was told it was possibly a vacuum leak, but as stated above I have no idea and any help would be appreciated.

PS if anyone is in the market it has 12X,XXX miles, aftermarket wheels and tires, and is for sale.
