a lift without a sway bar?

im new to the whole jeep thing, so i have no idea if this is a good question or not...
ive been looking at some jeeps recently, and one that i drove tonight had a four inch lift on it. driving it was fun, but the steering felt a little loosey goosey. when i got out of it i saw that the sway bar had not been reconnected after the jeep was lifted.

1st: why would they not reconnect the sway bar? was it not compatible with the lift?

2nd: if the sway bar is not compatible with the lift, is there a kit or something to reconnect it?

any comments are appreciated

1. In general you disco the sway bar to get more axle travel off road. On road it handles like jello.
2. You can get longer sway bar disconects for @$100 for the lift.
