I think it is a must have for anyone who take the unbeaten path or adventures away from civilization.

Even Les Stroud (survivor man) uses and reccomends one.

Check it out!

Problem with CB is that it's "line of sight". It's not going to help you if your rig is stuck in a canyon. And unless someone happens to be listening on that particular channel at that particular time, you are going to be SOL.

This is a very interesting solution.

I've been contemplating getting one too. Simple to use and family can track me on the web when I'm out wheeling

i've been seein these advertised in hunting magazines for a little while now. the only thing i dont like is that it doesn't seem to be able to help you get out of where you are and back to civilization, just makes it so you're location can be tracked, which would help get you rescued if necessary, but it'd be nice if it had some sort of gps map on it that you could mark waypoints or something and find you're own way out

for something that gives you a map and shows you how to get out are out there but WAY more expensive. This is a cheap in case of emergency device for when the worst happens and you need help. I think for the security it gives its well worth the price, the service is like 27cents a day.
