To start this off, I flipped my nisaan frontier end over end twice a week ago, I'm lucky to still be here. I have always wanted a Jeep, and now I'm buying one. I found one locally, a 97 with 85k miles one it for 5,500, I'm hoping to talk them down on the price a little bit, and hopefully I will be driving it by friday.
I need to know a few things, I like playing my classic rock loud, and I want some suggestions on what kind of sound systems y'all have in your Jeeps, and what you think is best. Should I go with the sound bar, and if so which one?
And any other suggestions you have for a newb like myself would be welcome.
I live in a relatively small town in Georgia, the crime's not that bad, and people around here know you get shot if you fuck with peoples stuff, so I don't think I have to worry about it getting stolen, I did read up on all the break ins in another thread.
I'd remove the lights from the hood, you'll get way too much glare from them.
But for a 4cyl, that ain't a bad price. I'd look it over and drive it before plopping down money. As for sound... if it has a soundbar, the speakers will need to be replaced, as well as the crumby ones in the dash.
When I had my YJ I got some 6x9 speaker boxes from Wally World or you can get them from any place that has angled speaker boxes. I put one up on each rear wheel hump. That plus a pioneer $100 dollar stereo and the speakers that came with the deck in a package deal,(In case it got stolen/or I rolled) was plenty loud with and without the top on. I lov'd it. I know Wmart is not the audio store of choice, but something nice will be someones choice if you leave the top off.
I put the stock stereo back in my pick up and got my pioneer out after the wreck, So I have a stereo, and I have a box set of 9" speakers, So I may just get an amp and a subwoofer, and do the whole thing my self.
For about 25 bucks you can get an adapter bracket that will let you increase the size of the dash speakers to the 5.25" oval. The sound bar can realistically hold a 6.5" round speaker. These with your aftermarket deck will definitely increase the sound you are looking for with the top/doors off.

Actually no, I found a better jeep that I bought just yesterday. This one was in poor condition. The frame was rusted to pieces, the engine did not run strong, and, it was only worth about half what they wanted. So I picked my up black 98 tj yesterday.
