Advice needed...

I'm looking at getting my first jeep! I need help deciding on what's right for me and what I should be looking for...any help/advice is appreciated...looking at used wrangler 2 dr models. This is going to be my everyday vehicle...only 15 minute round trip to work...will be hauling trailer with my 4 wheeler to hunting lease...so?????

What's the best model year?
Sport/Sahara/Rubicon?
Most reliable engine/year?

What else should I be looking for/at?

Thanks in advance!

What is the weight you will be towing? 2 Doors have lower tow limits than the 4 door. A Sahara is about "pretty" (ie body color fenders) and creature comforts. A Rubicon is nice if you plan to rock crawl or run really big tires. A Sport will get you through most "offroad" that isnt seriously sideways.

Go 2012 up for the 3.6 Pentastar. If you can swing it financially, get new.

Do you have a relative budget set? For example 15K will not buy you much of a used JK, but It will buy a nice TJ and a hell of a YJ or CJ.

From what you say you want it for a 6 cylinder TJ might be best. They're about as reliable as you can get.

Going off what the OP said, and not knowing his trailer weight or other needs id have to agree.

But which year model TJ? I've heard some engine issues with some...sorry for the ignorance, but just want to make a good choice and stay away from a disaster. Are there any models better than others, etc.?

00-01 had head cracking issues and 05-06 had OODA problems. Simple fix, but if left untouched can severly damage your motor.
