Red face air intake question

Ok I'm a girl so hang with me! The hose on top of the air filter box where it sucks in air isn't doing anything anymore. If you put your hand over it you can't feel anything. Any idea what it might be? Someone told me I needed a new throttle body? Thanks

Are you talking about a hose off of the intake tube? Or the tube itself? I can't image you needing a new throttle body. Is you Jeep running OK or are you having problems? Sorry for all the questions.

It's the plastic hose on top of the air filter box. The snorkel? Sorry Im not sure what its called. It runs ok most of the time but it misses sometimes and is getting even worse mpg than normal. When you first start it up it smells really rich.

Can you post a picture or two, it'll help if every one is talking about the same thing!

Can you describe what you mean by not doing anything anymore. If it was not pulling air thru, your engine would choke and not run. Silly question, but have you check in the tubes to make sure there is no mud, dirt, sand, etc in it.

Also have you checked your air filter? I have not heard of many people having a broken throttle body, unless it cracked.

Just throwing some ideas out there.

i think she means the horn isnt getting any air?
first thing i would check would be a crack in the big 3 in diameter tube from the air box to teh engine, then a crack in the air box, than make sure the air box is all the way closed!

also i would take the top off of the box (undo the like 6 metal clips) and then take the air filter out (be VERY careful where you put it , make sure to put it with the bottom still facing down, and on a completely clean surface) and look to see if there is anything in the bottom of the air box that is restricting the flow

if its none of those then i dont know, if there is no air getting to the engine, the engine will die,(it will also run really rich if its only getting a little air but the same amount of gas)

int this picture is i the thing at the very bottom left of the picture?

Nice job DeBruins, well put.

If you do have a cracked intake, I have a stock set up in my basement that I can sell and ship to you.

Just let me know.
