Airport - No doors no top

Hey guys,
Been reading on this forum for a long time as a guest. Some great info!

I'm heading out of town this week and will be leaving the TJ at the airport for 3 days. Any problems you guys see with leaving it there with no doors/Top. It's a small airport (Birmingham, AL) and it's a garage so it won't be exposed to any elements....
I guess the only thing of value in it will be the stock radio but I almost want to encourage someone to steal it so I can get an aftermarket...
I'll be headed to the airport before sunrise and when I get back it will be dark so my thought is...that's two great rides there and back out of the heat!
Just seeing if I'm missing anything.

Flying back in to a monsoon rainstorm comes to mind - but aside from that - I wouldn't worry about it...

If someone wants to steal it the top wouldn't stop them anyway. i don't see any problem.

well, just keep in mind that there is a lot worse stuff people can do to the inside of your vehicle than stealing. If somebody wants to do something, they'll do it regardless of top and doors, but leaving them off just makes it easier and ask for trouble.

And it's going to be in the back of your mind the whole time you are gone so.....

chances are, nothing will happen, people are in too much of a hurry getting into an airport or leaving the airport to stick around and do anything malicious but I personally wouldn't leave my vehicle unattended in the public with the top and doors down for that long. If anything does happen, it's your fault.

One thing that worries me, and this could easily happen in an airport more than anywhere else is some @sshole get's off the plane, lights up a much needed smoke, and thumps the still burning butt onto your seats.

I probably seem paranoid or something but from my experiences, especially with people, anything is possible and should be expected as time goes on.

If nothing's in it, then it's just as "safe" as it would be with the doors, except now nobody can steal the doors.

I'm not trying to freak anyone out or make them worry, I've just seen some of the crap people can do just for the hell of it, you know?

I've come out of a movie theater and saw people who came out before me standing around their sports car calling the police. nothing was stolen, but somebody evil decided to dump beer all in their car that had the top down. Left the beer cans right there.

another time, someone thumped a lit cigarette in someones car and burned a hole in their seat.

My point being, why leave it exposed for that long if you are not enjoying it? nothing to gain but plenty to loose.

This and the fact a bird or cat will find your seats and go to town.

the most valueable thing in my jeep is the doors. I always worry about them getting stolen,

At our airport we have a company that keeps your vehicle locked away, its like 6 bucks a day....its not covered, but its at least in a locked gated area that nobody except employees is allowed inside. To me the 6 bucks is worth the peace of mind. (Having said that I still didn't give them the keys to my Tuffy box.)

Liek PTaylor, I'm a little paranoid as well. I run soft doors (mostly no doors) in the summer, but when I need to fly out I put the hard doors back on and put the top the up. As already said, if someone wants to steal it or do something to it, the doors and top won't stop them, it only makes it harder, and if they are just bored, not worth doing anything.

This is funny. I just had a business trip out of LAX and it cost me $12 a day to park outside in a parking lot that was seemingly 12 square miles. It took 5 minutes just to walk to a shuttle bus. I hate LA. One of these days I will be out of here to a better and more peaceful place.

I think there is completly different crowd at the airport versus the movie theatre or mall as far as random acts of stupidness go. Birds on the other hand..............well you know you can not control everything.

... make sure you don't park underneath the pigeon perches in the garage - you know, those deep concrete support beams where they all sit.

Hey guys,
So got back tonight, no problems! In fact, about Wednesday I remembered I had left my mag-light in my holder and had accepted there was no way that thing would still be there when I got back. Lo and behold hadn't been touched.
Anyhow, I may be pressing my luck but it sure was a rewarding ride home after a week in Omaha.

Thanks for the help
