Alb nm needs rain

I took my yj out today to montesa and couldn't believe how dry it was I had a good time but couldn't climb any hill over 40 degrees. The sand was just to soft any tips on driving in soft sand I lowered my psi to 8lbs and have 33 Dunlop mts I need lockers but could I have done anything else to climb better?

Mata I'm in the SE part of the state where the fires have been really bad. They've closed off everything down here.
