Another Herculiner Incident

I had a nice little incident with the herc yesterday. NO... I didn't get any on my hootus, but that is about the only place I didn't get it.

I was going to herc the inside of the tail gate and the new floor pan cover for the shifter area that I just made.

I bought a brand new can and had some trouble trying to open it. I'm prying with a screwdriver and its not budging. So I pry harder working my way around and its just pealing the metal lip up so I grab some pliers and grab the lip and pry down and it just rips the metal lid, so I just work my way around with the pliers ripping the lid all the while.

By now I have it up so high that I can see under the bottom of the lid but its still stuck on somehow, so I grabbed the screwdriver again and got it under the bottom lip of the lid and begin prying, nothin. So I work my way around again with the screwdriver and after one trip around I give it all I have and it busts loose. BUT....under the amount of force I have it under it goes everywhere, all down the front of me and everywhere. I lost half a can of herc down the front of me and on the floor(I was wearing shorts and a tee shirt). I got it on my face, my chest, in my left armpit, my stomach, and all down my legs. SUCK!!!

I immediately stripped (in the open garage)and headed for the bathroom with a full bottle of dawn dish soap(I didn't have any Xylene) and the hand scrubber off my GOJO bottle(ouch). The first place I scrubbed was my face(the money maker) and I was able to get it all off. By the time I finished my face the rest had set in so it was game over from there. And no I'm not going to post any pics.

Coyote

But I did get the tailgate and the shifter cover done.

how do you get the motivation to strip everything down and herc it up? I've been wanting to do my tub forever. Just can't seem to pull the trigger!

The tub was herc'ed when I did the complete disassemble starting last sept. I got the herc in the tub this april. I already had a bare tub when I painted so it was nothin to just slap in some herc.

I think the prep is the part I don't want to do. My tub is really dirty from dust.

yup...a ton of grinding with a wire wheel and all the disassembly. I used ear plugs from harbor freight to fill the bolt holes.

No. Piebald describes the coloring of certain animals that are colored differently than normal genetics dictate. It applies to horses, cows, and deer specifically. They are generally white with black or brown patches.

Don't confuse me with someone who doesn't have a clue...

J/K Debruins...... unless it applies.

I'm going to refrain from mentioning that some people are just too dangerous to allow the use of even simple hand tools. Thank god there was no paint gun sprayer involved or we'd be reading about it on CNN...

I think I'm going to link this to the hootus thread

I figured out why the can wouldn't open. It was glued with herculiner to the lid. In trying to pull the lid off it pulled the inside lip of can up about 3/8".

He likes yellow huh. Should I should expect bullet holes in my jeep????

It's too late anyways. He only lives about 2 miles from me. You know, I don't know if he has seen it in person though.

Repressed feelings sometimes get projected in emails.....

Huh....Most people I know don't really like yellow. Of course my jeep isn't plain yellow either. Interesting!!!
Maybe its a good thing my house is behind a gate guarded by dudes with guns.
