Any Lawyers out there?

I need some legal advice. I had a Blown head gasket on my Jeep and had to take it to the hillview jeep in Greensburg, PA for warranty I had to take it there 3 times to fix it and they kept telling me it was just a air pocket, but after each time I was still losing fluid. After the third time they said I was correct and fixed the head gasket. I picked it up and on my way home the engine started making noise so I had it towed back and was told they didn't catch it in time and had to put in a new long block and I had a 1yr. 10,000 mile warranty on it.

I have only put 2500 miles on my jeep since then and the engine started making noise on start up. So I took it back in to them.

They are now denying my Warranty claim saying they believe it was caused by water and mud in the airbox. I haven't even took it offroad since I got it back from them putting the long block in and have several witnesses. I picked it up and took pictures of the airbox. There is old dirt and watermarks in it, but they were there when they but the long block in it. Also my K&N air filter is still clean from when I cleaned it last fall. I also ask to talk to the tech to see if he cleaned the airbox when they put the block in and they wouldn't let me.I doubt that they did. I also did some checking and it wasn't a new longblock as they original told me they put in but a remanufactured one.

I was wondering what is included with a longblock and what parts they reuse? Also can I take any legal action? I'm supposed to meet my lawyer on monday and trying to get as much info as possible. I know of the magnuss moss law but don't think this applys.

A long block would be all the internals, heads, ect. Only things that would be reused would be externals...alt. carb, starter, ect...ect.

If you still have the paper work that states the warranty there should be nothing that they can do. You have to read the fine print carefully. From what Ive heard from a couple of friends, Jeep is not very helpful when it comes to their own mistakes on warranty work. A buddy of mine has a new JK whos front D44 was making noise. They replaced the bearings, but the whole axle grenaded a week later. They stated it was not their fault and was not going to cover the repair. He only has about 7500 miles on it right now. You can ask to talk to their regional service manager which will piss them off, but keep going up the food chain till you talk to someone who isnt an idiot.

Have a lawyer draw up the paperwork and then take them to small claims court if they do not back off.

Judges almost always support the small guys in cases like this.

They said it was their district rep. that denied the claim. He supposedly took pictures both times. They gave me a 1 800 number to call but it is just chrysler customer service number and the head supervisor there said the only way to get to the district rep is through hillview dealer ship. So the dealership lied to me agian. I really wanted to get the pictures of when they first replaced the block to see if they had a picture of my airbox. I have a appointment with my family lawyer on monday guess I'll wait till then.

Update. I took my Jeep to a motor shop to get a estimate of what was wrong and possible causes as my lawyer suggested. They said the noise is from a stuck or bad lifter and they checked the intake manifold for water and dirt damage and found no evidence of any such damage. I took my Jeep back to the dealer and showed them the paperwork I got from the motor shop and they told me they would try to get a hold of the rep. again. I told them to make sure that he calls me this time since the customer service # they gave me told me only way to contact the rep. is through the dealership. They told me they would, but somehow I don't think they will. My lawyer said to give them 2 weeks if not he will go after them.

Does anyone know if you can adjust the lifters in the TJ's or does it require me to take of the head and replace them.

I hope you are not going to ever go back to that dealership. I know they can work with you and it sounds like they are being jerks! I hope everything works out for you. mg

The rocker arm can be adjusted but the lifters are non-adjustable, hydraulic type.

A loose rocker arm is easy to fix and in most cases should not pose any negative consequences to your motor. That's a case where it sounds much worse than the problem is. To an untrained ear, a loose rocker can sound like a bearing failure.

When you take delivery, fire it up and listen closely. If you hear any loud clanking noises, have exceptionally low oil pressure, or have metal flakes on your oil dipstick, REFUSE ACCEPTANCE. Then call your lawyer friend.

Good luck and let us know how you make out.
