Anybody else have this problem?

I have a JK 2 door, a '12 Rubi. I love love love love it. But ... whenever I see a TJ, I get a little jealous. They just look a little cooler to me. Just a little.

Start Modding yours the way you want it and I doubt you'll be jealous anymore. I love all Wranglers but since I've done mine my way I couldn't be happier.

This made me smile (03 Rubi owner)... I was thinking about testing a '12 Rubi today.

I mean it's not the mods. I don't really want to anything to mine at all besides add a winch. I mean the thing is perfect. But there is a little something just to the way the TJ looks, no? I mean whenever I look at a JK, I feel like I am looking at a fantastic piece of machinery that will do whatever I ask of it. Whenever I look at a TJ, I feel like I am looking at a classic.

Then buy a CJ or MJ and really have a classic.

There is nothing wrong with a TJ, but it's hardly a classic. A CJ is a classic.

Nope. I have a 10 JK. My gf has a 98 TJ. So, I can drive either. Out of the goodness of my heart, I usually let her take the JK.

It has nothing to do with the TJ being lifted/manual, versus the JK stock/auto.

Well that body style is 16-17 years old now.....

I still look longingly at CJ's that are clean.....

I'd have 5+ Jeeps if I could have my way.

Absolutely. It's even worse when I see one of those, but at least I see them less often. I dunno. I just wanted to throw some luv at TJ's. I think they are really sweet looking, even with itty bitty tires.

I hear ya'.

I found a photo awhile back (can't find it now) that had a black very stock TJ sitting next to a black and very stock-ish fully restored CJ. They looked very similar. Much more so than the JK resembles either of them.

So the TJ's look really is more classic than the JK's IMO. I might pick up a TJ someday and restore it . . . my brother's got one that I don't think I'm going to let leave the family.

But it's also true that as you start to mod and use your JK, I expect you'll grow to appreciate it on it's own terms, if you haven't already.

Oh don't get me wrong. I think the JK maintains the classic Jeep look, has a really nice complement of technical improvements over the TJ, and suits my needs perfectly. But you know how for some people a '66 Chevelle just really hits the spot and a '67 just isn't quite there? I feel like the TJ design really nailed it. I feel like, out of the recent models, the TJ is the one that got the look perfect, to me it is the '66 Chevelle of modern Jeeps.

Yeppers... The mordern Corvette is one heck of a machine. It's nearly supercar level now.

I'd still take a '61.

I wish I had a TJ so I didn't have to make payments every month! 2 more years and I won't feel like that anymore, I always think that's 300 dollars a month that could go towards mods instead of a payment

I think I know what you mean because whenever I see a Flat Fender Willys, I feel the same way. YJ, TJ, and JK Flatties are just not quite the same as the first.

Think of it this way, if you didn't have a Jeep at all then you would gladly take any one you could get right?

Absolutely. I just think sometimes you get a vehicle design that, for whatever reason, just "has it." I think the TJ "has it."
