Did you contact them by phone & talk to a human? You're more than likely going to eat the shipping both ways. That's just how it works. But what's $100 vs a new winch? If its anything major, they'll just send you a new one.

It sucks I know. Your luck sounds a lot like mine.Warn is supposed to be high quality, but $hit happens. If it has warranty, I wouldn't open it up. Just send it back & hopefully they will send you a new one.

If you're ever in the market for a new winch, look into Ramsey winches. Built just up the road from me in Tulsa,OK.

The M8000 I had on my TJ (2003 era) Liked to eat solenoids it went through 3 of them in 2 years. Other then that it was a good winch, I currently have a XRC8 Comp and it has been flawless over the past 2 years.

I have an 8274 that was bought new in 1977. The handle to release the drum is stuck. Works fine otherwise.
