Anyway to remove this without causing damage

I was driving yestarday and there was a can of paint that looked like it had fallen off the back of a pickup. Becuase of traffic it was unavoidable so i hit it and now have paint on my jeep. I was driving to drop off my gf for work so i didn't have time to do something till she was at work. I tried running it through a gas station car wash but i think it was to late and it had dried. Anyway I can remove the paint from the body, rims, plastic fender flares without messing up the clear coat and paint?

Here are some pictures i took tonight with my phone:

Cover it with mud...lots and lots of mud...

(sorry, had to)
Tried a pressure washer? or maybe some of that bug/tar remover?

I am assuming this is an oil base paint? Will it peel off with your fingernail? My biggest concern is that it might be a primer type of paint that contains some rough compound that would scratch the paint if it were buffed off.

Without looking at it personally, I would seriously recommend taking it to an auto body shop for an opinion. Watch out for people that think they know everything becuase they have used a buffer and detailed a few cars before.

wax and grease remover on the body. Bigger tires on the wheels. Or go wheelin.

If the wax and grease remover won't take the paint off the body you will need to wet sand it off there and buff the paint out with a rotary.

alright, thanx guys. the can looked like a gallon of house paint but then again I didn't get a great look at it. I'm not concerned about the tires since it'll wear off and I want 31" AT/KOs. Do those factory rims have a finish on them that could get messed up when removing the paint? I know I had aluminum rims on an old car and once the finish got a deep scratch it just started flaking off.

if it was latex paint, it should peel off with a little work, if not try a fire hose!

If you lived near me I would just have you bring it to me at the shop it would only take me about an hour to get it off (Well maybe an hour in a half to clean off most of the tires)
but then again Ive been painting cars for almost 20years

Okay for starters - call your insurance company and let them know what happened. Then take it to your body shop and let some professionals LOOK at it. There's no way to tell you what's on your Jeep, or how to remove it, without seeing it. Even then it would be worthless conjecture. Sorry about your Jeep.

clay bar is to remove the minor particles left behind after washing. It will not remove dried paint.

Aw, the hell with all this, just repaint the whole thing. Just kidding.

I would start with the finger nail test, if it peels off the tub easy, then it is a latex based paint and you will be able to get it off by yourself. Is the paint glossy? Try the paint on the fender flares and see how easy or hard it is to get off.

If it does not peel / scrape off easy then it will be time to call the insurance company and ask for advice. Do not submit a claim until you have an idea of how much the "repairs" would be.

The stock wheels do have a coating on them.

If it is a primer type / oil based paint, now would be the time to start thinking if you would like your jeep to be a different color.

I had this happen to my truck I had before my jeep. It was the white paint that they use to paint the lines in the road, I was right beind the truck when it spilled about 50 gallons of paint on the road and sprayed my truck pretty good. Took some time, but I finally buffed out all the paint.

Good luck with your efforts.

Okay, hope I caught you in time. A kid spraypainted alot of cars were I lived years back. Added nice red racing stripes down the side of my white 69 Nova. I grabbed a old washcloth and either Mothers or Meguiers polishing compound. Couple hours of elbow grease later red was gone.

Not sure what to use on your flares and tires.

First try prep sol, it's prepainting chemical, try a small spot first, laquer thinner will also take it off, you will have to rewax though. I've used both to remove stuff my vehicles, so far with no ill effects.

I had a small fender bender one time and ended up with red paint down the side of my car. I was cleaning the tires with BLEECH WHITE and just tried spraying some on there. It took all the red paint off and I never saw any ill side effects. I'm sure it would work on the tiers, but I'm scared to give you the thumbs up to try it on your paint, just saying it worked for me!!

I know how I get tar off my vehicles! use a CVS card and slide it like you are applying window tint across the paint! Nice and easy and it just comes right off! Just give it a try you cannot make things worse!
Tell us how, what ever you do turns out! Good Luck!
