Are 2 door jeeps really 4 seaters ?

OK, I'm 60 yrs old, 6 ft, 215 lbs, 36" waist, and I can't get to the back seats via the folded forward passenger seat.
I'm athletic enough to enter the back seats over the rear wheels from the side, or, from the rear.
But really, at what age (people) are 2 door jeeps essentially 4 seaters ?

I am 36 and 6ft 3, 230 lbs and getting in and out of the back seat for me is a pain in the arse. I have given some people rides before who are in their 20's and they have no problem getting in and out, but You would need a ceiling winch to get me up and in the back.

I'm 29, 180 pounds, 5'11 and it's still a b*tch getting back there via the passenger door. I tell folks to jump off the rear bumper with the top off to get back there. it's easier. rarely do I have more than one passenger though.

The only people that fit in the back of my Jeep are kids,my dog, groceries and if the seat is installed maybe a poor hapless broken down TOYOTA owner!

I removed my rear seat almost immediately upon purchase. It's covered/sealed in a huge, heavy duty plastic bag, leaning up against a wall in my garage. My Jeep is strictly a 2-person rig. I even removed the rear seat belts to discourage myself from replacing the rear seat.

I'm 55 5'8" 145 pounds, I gotta be careful when I fart, it acts like a jetpak and floats me up and over into the backseat. But no backseat for me, that means I'm not behind the wheel.

2 seaters are a pain. I knew this before I bought it and that is the one thing that makes me wish I never bought a Jeep. I'm not sure what model you are talking about, but I own an 01 TJ. It has the "pull tabs" on the seat to let it move forward. No one that has ever gotten into my Jeep knows how to use them. I've had someone break the cord due to not knowing and being impatient.
If there was one thing I could change today, upgrade or whatever, it would be the seats for gaining easier access to the back. You can't even get a standard seat cover for them!
I was happy when it was announced that a 4 door version was coming out, and then I saw it and decided this would be my last Jeep.

The above post is correct, the rear is for small kids, maybe some limited storage, but as far as grocery shopping, it's a pain to put anything back there and retrieve. I'm referring to the top being on. with it off, not too bad.

Fold and tumble seats in the TJ's are wayyyy better than the JK's as far as allowing access to the back seat. (Or so I've heard). I can get in and out of my TJ's backseat with not too much problem. But I'm skinny and pretty darn flexible for a person of my advanced age My husband couldn't get back there on a dare... My kids do it fine, though they grunt and carry on like someones trying to kill them, when the tops on... Topless is cake... Up and over.

The newer TJs with the flip up passenger seat make it easy to get in and out of the back. If you've got an older TJ, like my MIL, it's a real pain!

I'm 16 and even when i do make it into the back seat, my knees are into the front seats. I ended up taking them out.

I think the rear seat is rather usable...but my other car has been called "hard to get into" by more than a few...so maybe its all about perspective? Here's a video to tell you what I mean....

It is good for short fun rides as long as it is not me in the back. It's very functional for kids though. If the front seat works properly and folds forward as it should it is not too bad getting back there. I am 6 foot 215lbs and I can get back there with no problems.

I my self have no problem getting in and out of the jeep, front or back, however I am only 5'6" and 145 lbs. But all my friends are over 5'10" and over 200 and what I have done is took one of the handles that I made and put it on the roll bar between the two front seats.
this way they have something to pull them selves up by.

haha I kinda like the fact it's tough to get in the back. that means I don't have to haul everyone around, or do grocery store duty, etc. the female gets like 30mpg, I get like 12...but she always wants to take the Jeep lol! but since it's rough with that back seat, it limits me driving

Wit a minute! I think on your other post "Someone stole my gas" you were only getting 6 houses per tank!

All of my friends (and myself) are between 20-24 and range from in shape to very out of shape but we manage to get in the back seat (well they do at least I am always driving and have yet to ride in the back)

So I guess that back seat is for the young and limber

Although when the top is down I refuse to fold the seats forward unless there are skirts/dresses involved for the ladies

I can usually get back there but first I grease my sides and have someone dangle a twinkie in front of me

I'm 6'2", 220 lbs, and I bought a Jeep so I'd never have to sit in the backseat of a Jeep.

Easy fix.

Don't know what all of the complaints are about with the 2-Dr Backseats!

My 2-Dr JK fits 4 people just fine! Two up front, and two on the Backseat..... sitting on the Garage Floor!

Seriously..... it's a real PIA to get some folks into the Backseat. I removed mine months ago, so I could use the Cargo Room.

Adding on to Monkers comment:

....."the back seat is for them "Umpaa Lumpaa" people from Willy Wonka (think that was the movie they were in)".....

Only the Flying Monkeys from the Wizard of Oz, would be able to easily access the Backseat in a JK!

Cheers!

The only ones to be in my back seat are the kids. My daughter goes in thru the drivers side door, I put my son in thru the passenger side rollbar and buckle him that way as well. I don't know how or if we'll take it much with the top on.

Someone on this site moved their backseat further back to get more leg room. It looked great only thing is I use the space behind the seat a lot.
