Are Light Wire Mesh Stone Guards in Vogue?

My 95 YJ came with Wire Mesh Stone Guard for all the lights. I see them still for sale however are they still in style or have they gone the way of the big pipe bumpers?

Thanks
All..

Roger

I don't see them on too many vehicles anymore. I think it is more of a novelty now.

You have THOSE on your Jeep? You must be kidding!

Cuz I am.

Seriously though - if you like them, keep them. Who cares how popular they are? Personally, I had the Euro tail light guards on for a couple years and just now removed them when i installed my 4" LEDs. They offer some protection I suppose.

My 95 YJ came with them. In 1979 when I had a full sized Jeep Cherokee I put them on the headlights.
I took them off. Leaning for LED rear lights however...just for shoots and giggles.

I built my own headlight covers and I absolutely love the way they look. Bought some stainless steel wire mesh here:

Belleville Wire Cloth Co., Inc - Woven Wire Mesh | Wire Cloth | Stainless Steel Wire Mesh | Wire Cloth Strainer

Painted it black. Cut the mesh, formed it, and fastened it with screws and washers, and I think my car looks 10 times better now that I have these on. Would suggest any of you out there looking to add these to make them yourselves, they're pretty easily done.

Laugh all you want...but I just put the Euro light covers on mine. I spent $95 on halogen headlights (which work great by the way) and I don't care how stupid the covers look...I'm gonna do what I can to protoct my investment as I'm not made of money. My friends gave me crap about them, but I just told them to buy a Jeep and they can do as they want with theirs. P.s. with or without the screens...I can still go places they can only dream about.

I will not laugh at you Dockman ! I had those back in the 80's too. Chrome ones even ! I am thinking of putting the old MB single round bars over my headlights.
If it feels good, do it !
If it feels real good, do it again !

if you snag the euro light covers just right.. you'll do more body damage then the price of a new taillight..

seen it happen a few times..

just get some round leds and recess them into the back corners..

For what it's worth, I had them on my 2001 TJ and they saved me a headlight (the guard was dented, but my headlight unbroken). I was looking for them for my JK but alas, only the Euro can be found.

I made my own from steel mesh I picked up at the hard ware store. I cut it to fit and formed it around the light used black rim paint and use the bezel to hold it in place. About 20 bucks all in all. As far as tail lights I put led lights in my rear bumper they don't get trail damage sitting flush.

I just removed them from my 95, sand blasted them and painted them and put them back on. They may never be needed, but if I catch a rock in the rock guard some day and dont have to replace a light lens I will be glad I kept them on!
