Ball joints?

It has been years since I changed ball joints the last truck I did it on was a '65 Chevy pickup do you need a ball joint press to change the jeep ball joints?

It's preferred, there are other methods but a press will give you the least amount of grief.

the other option is a soft-metal mallet, like lead or brass, or a block of dense wood and a large hammer... turn the castle nut upside down and thread it on so that the stud is flush with the nut, douse it in penetrating oil and whack the top a few times... it should pop real quick... if not, rent a puller at an auto parts store or heat it with a torch... if its rusted really bad, you'll be struggling with every method, (i broke two pullers once on my old ford, and it took an acetylene torch and a 4 lb hammer to separate it...) and its best to soak it in penetrating oil every day for a day or three before attempting...

Great information I want to change mine at some point but wasn't sure on the newer models
