Barnwell Mountain Gilmer Texas.

Anyone on here run the trails at Barnwell? Was looking at some of the videos from Youtube, haven't personally been there, drive by the place quite a bit on the way to Lake of the Pines from Gilmer/Big Sandy. Curious if it would be suicide to go out there with stock suspension and factory diff/axles with no lockers.

I went there a couple times a few years back, it was very well marked, I did find that a lot of the trails were very rutted and worse than the signs led me to believe but it had rained a lot that year. I would reckon there would be a decent amount you could drive there.

I've been out there once. There should be plenty of fun trails to run with a stock jeep. They do mark all the trails so you know what you are getting into. But some of the trails were definitely worse than the signs would indicate. Some 3 diamonds were really technical, others not so much. I would just make sure to have someone else with you in case you get stuck. Here's my favorite pic of Barnwell from a few years ago.

Cool deal. Just found out last night that I will be heading down to house sit for my father in law for the week while they are on a cruise. Looks like there is some type of 4x4 park there in Mt. Enterprise called Primitive Acres...from what I can tell it looks like it is defunct but we shall see. Hopefully there is something to do down there for a week.

Well went to primitive acres this evening, looks defunct! However there appears to be lots of open trails a few miles down, the road turns to dirt and looks like open oil field land...lots of turnoffs into trails and no posted signs. I plan to check it out tomorrow.
