I haven't heard of anyone else having rattles from their Barricade Roof Rack. In fact there are a bunch of positive reviews of that rack on the site and no one mentioned rattling or noises at all. I would suggest loosening all the mounting hardware and allowing the rack to settle to where it sits naturally and then torquing everything down again. Maybe it's a bit twisted or something isn't quite tight enough. Let me know how that goes!
I'll let you know, but I think the only to fix it is to weld them together, there is a lot of play where the tubes go together. I'm going to try to shim them first.
I imagine an air dam would do a great deal to reduce wind noise. Barricade does not offer one so you'd have to retro fit one from a different brand or make your own, but it should help! Let me know if you have other questions.
The rear bar rattled terribly by hand alone, so I used electrical tape on the male end connectors to shim it. That worked well.
Now, I'm getting rattles somewhere around my head only while driving over bumps (nothing is moving or rattling by hand).
I guess basically EVERY joint needs some kind of shimming/bushing to dampen steel-on-steel contact.
I definitely thought this rack would be a little higher quality than as received...
But, that being said, it is a very solid and handy addition to my Jeep - once you work out the rattles.
I have had a barricade rack on a JK wrangler and it rattles based on road surface and temperature. I’ve been told to undo the parts and apply silicone spray or silicone tape. I’m thinking of letting a body shop we’d the parts and then touching it up with flat black spray.
Ya, buy a new one. Barricade is one of the cheapest around, so I would imagine engineering and fitment are far from ideal. Pick of which rack would be helpful since they have several.
I have an EAG that rattled a few months after install. Coincidently I had a break in through the rear driver side glass just before I started hearing the rattles. I thought it was the window rattling. Turned out to be some mounting bolts that loosened up enough to allow the clamp to the rain gutter to move. Every bump or vibration on the road and it would rattle. Tightened things up and all has been well for over a year now.
