Thumbs up Battery question

Curious. Buddy sold his truck and had put an Optima Red Top in it before he sold it. Well, lucky for me the battery didn't go with it, I got it from him for a few bucks and a beer. Here is the question. The battery I took out of the jeep is just a year old. My wife has an '04 Ford Explorer, with it's 4 year old battery. Can I put the battery I took out of my jeep and put it in the Ford? I'm thinking I can, but just want to make sure.

Thing to do is check the cold cranking amps on both batteries. If they match (or are pretty close) you should be fine.

If however Jeep says 600 and Ford says 900 (made up numbers for sure), it'll work, but it'll be tough on the smaller one -- which will likely have a much shorter life in the long run.

Check the CCA and see what it says...

Sure, why not. The Exporer's engines are ususally the 4.0 liter V-6 and by no means is a large V-8 so it's compatible.

Just make sure to wire red to negative and black to positive (just kidding).....

It ain't no fun unless you get some of it on you.
