Battery Question

All the electrical and power went out and from what I have read appears to be the Alternator. I was told that if I could get the battery charged I would be able to start it to take it the garage. Does this work in this kind of situation where the battery voltage indicator on the dash went all the way down?

Yes as long as the battery is OK and takes a charge you should be fine. The jeep will run off the charge in the battery.

The indicator on your dash may say battery ( or batt) but it reads what the altanator is doing, so if its not showing a charge its because your altanator ain't charging. As long as you have a charged battery it will not affect your starting your jeep. You could drive it if ya wanted to but sents it would just die when the battery dies..... I wouldn't recommend it, think of it like a RC car, if its got juice it will go

Charge battery.....start and drive IMMEDIATELY to place where you will be working on it...... DO NOT.... I repeat....DO NOT stop anywhere and shut engine off.

The battery may or may not have two starts in it when you arrive anyplace else.

Also.... do not run any accessories (headlights, radio, wipers, heater/AC fan, or ANYTHING else electrical) during your trip STRAIGHT to garage. Unless the place is more than 20 miles or so away..... you should be good to go.

Re: Battery

I would like to say thank you to those of you who responded to my issue. I did what was suggested, I made it to the garage and a new alternator was installed.

Thanks again!
