Yes I have owned a droid, two of them in fact. Both fallen victim to "water" damage in a seemingly dry environment. When the CDMA iPhone is released, and functions on verizon's network, that will be a lethal combo, until then I'll keep putting up with AT&T.

What's a droid?

I favor the Motorola F3, which is the toughest, most basic cell phone known to mankind. I've used this thing for years; I've dropped it onto concrete, driven over it twice, left it out in the rain and it was once buried in snow for a week. It works flawlessly and it isn't a goofy toy for the masses.

This is funny...the only service where I live is with Verizon, and half the time that doesn't work. I would love to get all the stupid commercials for AT&T, Cell One, etc., because they are all full of $H1t as far as I am concerned with their coverage quotes. You can't even use an iphone where I live...no coverage, only Verizon, and I own a Boulder by Casio. First phone I can say that has survived alot of water, shock, etc. This whole phone thing really sucks where I live, since my whole business revolves around phone service...I am a funeral director and no call on the phone means no work and lost business. It's so rotten for coverage where I am, that I still carry a pager out on the trails, and it works in all of PA, NY, and OH. Pretty sad, but it is reliable....

Well between the iphone 4 and the Icom IC-7000 coupled to an Icom IC-PW1 linear in the jeep already I can hail anyone including the damn space station so verizon has nothing on me.....
If you want to be able to reach anyone anywhere its HAM or nothing.....
I can hail my house and call using my VOIP line with the ID-1 if there is a repeater close enough which there always is....
If not I can use the 7000 to make a land line call from absolutely anywhere.....
If you really wanna have fun there is always the moon to bounce the signal off of if your in a deep valley.......
Try that with a phone.......

As far as phones I'm still sticking withe the iPhone!!!!!
Droids suck all around and Verizon still wont let the full developer suite to be used on the phones on their network.......
Verizon cripples every phone they touch.....

Im not a droid hater but i hate to remind all u guys that the iphone was the FIRST real full touch screen smart phone when everyone else was worried about not having keys...... And the first and still best phone for anytype of app you can think of. The rest, droid included are just perfected COPYS.

By that logic, you would prefer a Ford model T over a Jeep? Even if something is a copy, if it is a perfected copy, then it is unarguably better.

In essence that would be true, but the droid still lacks the key features that it tryied to copy. Apple got it right the first time and has done so with 4 models.

Ultimately, if it works, it works. My girl has an iphone, and it is nice, however I have a few preferences that it doesn't fit into.

- I just don't like Apple.
- Originally I was worried about keys for back up
- Anytime I've been sent anywhere in the states by the military, Verizon had coverage but AT&T didn't
- Also I prefer an open source friendly software. So Apps aren't a concern.

If anything else, I just like the Droid. Either that or any tough phones made for heavy duty or work around construction sites.

Well like anything else you hate it or you love it. As for the buttons the iphone still has the home and lock keys for any issues or restarts.

As for coverage i can only speak from experience and i have yet to drop a call anymore than past phones or services.

And when it comes to software apple is strict but they revolutionalized tech as we know it. And because of there strict guidlines there products are not supseptable to viruses like the open source phones are.

And the one main reason i like my iphone 4 is facetime. Its like a mobile skype that is way cleaner. Apple is and has been years ahead of the competiton which is why despite all the copys they Dominate the mobile devices catagory. Period!

I have an iPhone 4, and a 3GS before that, and a 3G before that one. The iPhone is as much a love/hate as a jeep.

I hate that I need to use iTunes to put stuff on/ off the phone, and hate that iTunes is such a PITA to share a library and iTunes account between family members on a single pc. Each device basically needs their own library :/

I love the clean interface, and quantity apps.

But let's not go so far as saying they are secure from malware. One only needs to look as far as jailbreakme.com to see that error.

Oh yeah, i love a jailbroken much more than stock. It turns the iPhone into the cellular equivalent of a jeep- mod it any way you want.

Just to let you know... it's not really a land line call when you use and over-the-air transmitter, and it's really nice that you can call the ISS if you wanted to... but me personally I don't know anyone there that I'd really care to talk to.. While you spent $1500+ on your setup (not counting your iPhone and crap AT&T service) my Droid X only cost me $150 and if I needed to talk to someone on the fly in a low signal area, my $70 Uniden CB has yet to fail me.

Also there are many ways to get around Verizon's limitations on most of their phone OS's.

I love my iphone 4. Huge improvement over my old 3G...YMMV....

I'll leave myself out of the droid vs iphone pissing contest.

I do not like ATT, but they are the best avail in my area.
